Highlights of the CNYRID
The CNYRID and the member organizations of the Deaf Advocacy Council of CNY (DAC of CNY) have formed an ongoing collaborative relationship. This unique partnership fosters greater understanding and mutual respect between the interpreting and Deaf communities and reinforces CNYRIDs commitment to promote and ensure quality interpreter services.
These two groups also host social events in conjunction with Aurora of CNY: the Annual Christmas Party and an Annual Picnic.
The CNYRID is also a strong supporter of the Deaf and hard of hearing youth in our area and offers an annual scholarship award to a deserving high school graduating senior.
General Membership Meetings are held bimonthly. Current professional topics and issues are discussed at meetings of the Community Interpreters in Private Practice Committee (CIPPs) and the Educational Interpreter Committee.
